An intruder who broke into the home of Nana (born Im Jin-ah), former member of the girl group After School, claimed he was not read his Miranda rights during his arrest. The 30-year-old suspect, identified as Mr. A, has been arrested and charged with special robbery and assault.

According to Yonhap News on the 24th, the Guri Police Station in Gyeonggi Province is set to send Mr. A to prosecutors. Mr. A had filed for a warrant review (Gusokjeokbusim) on the 18th, arguing that the police failed to inform him of his Miranda rights during his apprehension. However, the court dismissed his plea, leading to an extension of his detention period.

It is reported that Mr. A scaled a ladder to Nana's residence around 6 AM on the 15th, armed with a weapon. He threatened Nana and her mother, demanding money and causing injuries to the mother. When Nana, alerted by her mother's screams, intervened, a physical struggle ensued.

Nana and her mother managed to restrain Mr. A and called the police. Both Nana and her mother sustained injuries and are receiving medical treatment. Mr. A also suffered a laceration on his jaw from a weapon. The court has recognized the self-defense actions of Nana and her mother.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated that he believed the house was empty and was unaware that a celebrity lived there, claiming financial difficulties as his motive.

Korean netizens expressed shock and concern, commenting, "That must have been terrifying," "So thankful Nana and her mother weren't more seriously injured," and "The perpetrator is so brazen." Many are sending their support to Nana and her family.
