Kian84 and Kweon Hwa-un Tackle Trekking Marathon in South Africa on 'Extreme 84' Premiere; Choo Sung-hoon Withdraws Due to Injury
MBC's new entertainment program 'Extreme 84' kicked off with a challenging premiere episode.
The first broadcast on the 30th featured Kian84 and Kweon Hwa-un embarking on a trekking marathon in South Africa. The course, designed to test participants' limits with water, sand, rocks, and steep inclines, was described by Kian84 as a 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to run with lions.'
Adding to the drama, Choo Sung-hoon, initially slated to participate, had to withdraw on the first day due to an injury sustained from a jet ski accident, leaving Kian84 and Kweon Hwa-un to face the challenge alone.
After a journey of approximately 40 hours, Kian84 expressed his anxieties about completing the race but vowed, 'I will finish, even if I have to walk,' showcasing his strong determination.
On the day of the event, under freezing temperatures, both Kian84 and Kweon Hwa-un began their arduous trek. Kian84 even found himself slightly overwhelmed by Kweon Hwa-un's seemingly endless energy.
However, early into the race, Kian84 was seen walking by the 3km mark. He reflected, 'My body wasn't warmed up. You have to know your limits; chasing after an eagle will only tear your legs apart,' acknowledging the reality of the situation.
Meanwhile, Kweon Hwa-un declared, 'My goal is first place,' as he passionately warmed up. The studio revealed that many participants did not complete the race, adding to the surprise.
Netizens commented, 'Kian84 really went through a lot,' 'I'm so curious about the next episode,' and 'I thought Kweon Hwa-un had low stamina, but he's amazing.' The reactions showed high anticipation for the upcoming broadcast.
