Director Kim In-ha Reveals 'Transit Love 3' Behind-the-Scenes: 'Exes' Eye Contact Causes Unpredictable Emotional Swings'
The dating reality show 'Transit Love 3' on TVING, where former lovers live together as strangers, is captivating audiences with its unpredictable emotional dynamics.
In a peculiar setting where reunion or new romance is possible, participants experience emotional turmoil unlike anything in their past lives. Director Kim In-ha recently shared insights into the cast's candid reactions in an interview with Sports Seoul.
"We confirm this repeatedly during pre-interviews. 'Will you get back with your ex?'" Director Kim stated. "Despite their strong vows not to reconcile and to find new partners, their emotions shift drastically the moment they lock eyes with their ex. Even though we couldn't capture every glance, the atmosphere between ex-couples seems to be the real catalyst for these emotional shifts."
'Transit Love 3' sparks boundless imagination, drawing viewers into deep immersion. Viewers project their own experiences onto the fragmented glimpses of the cast's lives, often leading to intense 'over-immersion syndrome.' "Everyone experiences love and heartbreak," Director Kim explained. "The cast members' experiences mirror our own, making it a relatable subject. We prioritize empathy and authenticity in love and heartbreak."
However, excessive immersion can lead to emotional distress for the participants. Director Kim acknowledged the cast's mental well-being is a concern. "We provide extensive support, talking to them almost daily. Beyond basic care, we realize greater consideration is needed to protect them from harm. We are actively discussing this," he added.
Taking over the reins from creator Director Lee Jin-ju, Director Kim In-ha confessed to the immense pressure. "I couldn't sleep during season 3. There wasn't a single comfortable night. The pressure was crushing. Season 4 is a bit better, but the burden remains significant," he said. "I'm taking it one day at a time, focusing on doing my best each day without looking too far ahead."
Netizens expressed sympathy for the difficulties faced by the cast post-broadcast, commenting, "They didn't come on the show to become celebrities, so why are people attacking them so harshly?" and "Managing the cast's mental health must be crucial." Others offered encouragement, saying, "Director, you must be working hard. Looking forward to the next season!"
