Seo Dong-ju Directly Addresses 'Retirement from US Law Practice' Rumors, Clarifies 'I am a California Lawyer'

Broadcaster and lawyer Seo Dong-ju has directly addressed the suspicions surrounding her supposed retirement from her US legal practice.

On the 2nd, Seo Dong-ju uploaded a video titled 'The Reason I Can't Clock Out Even After Work' to her YouTube channel, 'Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong'.

In the video, as she removed her makeup late at night, Seo Dong-ju stated, "Filming is over, but I still have lawyer tasks left. I'm doing broadcasts, but I'm continuing my work as a lawyer."

She continued, "I'm also active as a broadcaster, writer, and artist in Korea, and I run a beauty business. So, many people ask if I've quit being a lawyer," referencing the speculation about her careers.

Seo Dong-ju emphasized that she is a lawyer licensed in the state of California. "I took the California bar exam. The laws and exams differ by state in the US," she explained. "Many people ask for divorce consultations, but I have worked in trademark law within intellectual property."

She also candidly shared her experience working at a US law firm. "It was a large firm, so the workload was immense, and with many global clients, I worked day and night. In return, I earned a lot of money," she said.

Currently, Seo Dong-ju revealed she works as a lawyer (CLO) for a company headquartered in Busan. "The CEO gave me the title of Director, but it's too grand, so outside I introduce myself as a legal advisor or in-house counsel," she stated, adding, "I'm also involved in UN-related projects."

Towards the end of the video, Seo Dong-ju presented actual documents to the camera to authenticate her legal practice. She also directly revealed her MIT diploma and Wharton School MBA degree, remarking, "This is the first time I'm showing my documents. Perhaps that's why some people didn't believe I was a lawyer," capturing attention.

Meanwhile, Seo Dong-ju is the daughter of the late Seo Se-won and Seo Jeong-hee. After practicing law in the US, she has been balancing her broadcasting activities. In June, she remarried an individual working in the entertainment industry.
