Kian84's 'Extreme 84' Marathon Shoot Behind-the-Scenes Revealed: Elite Runner Cameramen Shine
MBC's variety show 'Extreme 84' has unveiled the challenging behind-the-scenes footage of webtoon artist Kian84's marathon endeavor.
The episode, released on the 3rd, showcases the production team's dedication to capturing the 'extreme marathon' in its most authentic form. The show emphasizes its status as a hyper-realistic variety program, not just documenting Kian84's challenge but also involving the production crew running alongside him.
To capture the perspective of 'real runners' at the marathon, the filming team deviated from conventional methods. Cameramen traversed the entire 42.195km course on foot, ensuring minimal disruption to the participants' flow and concentration.
Notably, some cameramen were former professional marathon athletes. One, boasting a time faster than actor Kwon Hwa-woon in the 2 hours and 30 minutes range, kept pace with Kian84 and his crew, capturing dynamic running scenes with professional precision.
Furthermore, real-time location tracking via GPS was implemented for the crew and cast, crucial for safety and efficient filming amidst thousands of runners starting simultaneously.
The 'Extreme 84' production team stated, "Our top priority was not to interfere with the runners' performance," adding, "This allowed us to fully capture Kian84's breath, vision, and emotions as we ran together." 'Extreme 84' airs every Sunday at 9:10 PM.
Netizens watching the broadcast praised the effort, commenting, "Kian84 worked really hard," "The cameramen are truly amazing," "So it was real running, not CG," and "I'll be tuning in." The response shows strong support for Kian84 and the production team's dedication.
