CCTV Footage Released in Kidnapping and Murder Attempt of YouTuber 'Sutak'; Accomplice Arrested

Incheon District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 3rd that accomplice A (36) has been arrested and indicted on charges of aiding and abetting robbery and assault in connection with the kidnapping and attempted murder of popular game YouTuber 'Sutak'. This measure expands legal accountability to include accomplices who supported the crime, in addition to the perpetrators who directly assaulted the victim.

The CCTV footage released by the prosecution shows the victim being dragged behind a vehicle in an underground parking lot, his arms restrained, while a man follows and swings a baseball bat multiple times. The limp victim was then placed in a vehicle and transported approximately 200km to Geumsan County, Chungcheongnam-do, where the murder attempt took place.

According to prosecutors, A provided the perpetrators with the getaway vehicle, duct tape, and work gloves, and had agreed to receive over 150 million KRW if the crime was successful. It was also revealed that A had conspired in a kidnapping attempt a week prior, which was thwarted when the victim did not appear.

Previously, a group led by used car dealer B (25) was arrested and indicted on October 26th for assaulting and kidnapping Sutak in an apartment's underground parking lot in Songdo, and attempting to murder him at a public cemetery in Geumsan. They lured the victim under the pretext of a car contract, intending to extort money.

The victim sustained severe injuries, including fractures to his face and fingers, and diminished vision and hearing, but his life is not in danger. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation and counseling. Sutak recently shared on a live broadcast his lingering fear of going outside due to the psychological trauma, but expressed his determination to recover and return to broadcasting.

Based on CCTV evidence, inter-party messages, and vehicle tracking, prosecutors applied the charge of attempted robbery and murder, expanding the scope of indictment to include the accomplice. The investigative team stated they are pursuing additional responsible parties, considering the premeditated nature of the crime, and have not ruled out further indictments.

Netizens expressed shock at the released CCTV footage, with many commenting, 'The CCTV is so disturbing,' and 'I hope the victim recovers quickly.' There were also calls for harsh punishment, stating, 'All accomplices must be punished.'
