Actor Park Jung-min Addresses 'Unreasonable Boss' Rumors Over No Company Dinners
Actor Park Jung-min found himself amidst rumors of being an 'unreasonable boss' after explaining his reasons for not holding company dinners.
A video titled 'Will Mujae Participate in Next Year's Book Fair? Mujae Publishing Q&A' was uploaded on the YouTube channel of publishing company Mujae on the 3rd. In the video, Park Jung-min, the CEO of Mujae Publishing, and Director Kim Ah-young appeared to answer subscriber questions.
Director Kim Ah-young mentioned, 'We're receiving many similar comments on the video, so we'll answer them.' For the first question, 'Do you have company dinners?', Park Jung-min responded, 'It's been about 7-8 months since we started the company, and we haven't had any. We can't just have dinner for two, can we? A company dinner usually involves setting aside time after work, drinking, and planning the company's future, but we've never had such an occasion. I'll consider it once the office gets more crowded.'
Director Kim added, 'First of all, our work never ends. It's already 10:30 PM.' Park Jung-min continued, 'I don't like the idea of grabbing drinks after work because it disrupts my routine. While I don't show it, I dread sudden company dinner invitations. I estimate we might have one in about two years. But saying this makes us sound like a terrible company.'
To this, Director Kim playfully remarked, 'Only the CEO is unreasonable. I'm just an employee diligently and obediently working,' causing Park Jung-min to exclaim in mock desperation, 'Please help me out a little. It'll get better soon. People will comment if you say this,' eliciting laughter.
Netizens reacted with amusement to Park Jung-min's candid explanation for avoiding company dinners, with comments like, "The CEO is so honest, it's hilarious," "The reason for not having dinners is routine disruption, how cute," and "Director Kim Ah-young's perfectly timed 'burn' is the best."
