Kim Min-jong Reveals Story Behind $600K Rolls-Royce 'Good Deed' & Reason for No-Salary Film Role
Singer and actor Kim Min-jong has opened up about the heartwarming story behind his nearly $600,000 Rolls-Royce and his decision to appear in the new film 'Florence' without a salary.
Appearing as a guest on the MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' on the 3rd, Kim Min-jong captured the audience's attention.
MC Kim Gu-ra brought up the widely circulated online story of Kim Min-jong's 'Rolls-Royce good deed.' When asked if it was true that he didn't ask for repair costs after a neighbor scratched his car, Kim Min-jong revealed, "The car is worth around 600 million won (approximately $600,000 USD)."
He explained the situation, saying, "Since they were a neighbor, I just wanted to let it go quietly. But later, they posted about it, and we ended up exchanging side dishes," sharing a heartwarming tale of neighborly kindness.
However, there were unexpected consequences. Kim Min-jong sheepishly admitted, "People kept asking, 'Is this the car?' so I ended up selling it." The attention from his good deed apparently made him uncomfortable enough to part with the vehicle.
Additionally, Kim Min-jong disclosed his reasons for taking on a role in the film 'Florence' on a no-salary basis. "It's a low-budget film, and I wanted my participation fee to help the movie instead," he explained. "The director was so grateful and said we could change the contract to profit-sharing if the film did well."
He then added with a laugh, "I heard the break-even point is 200,000 viewers. I hope 'Radio Star' can help us reach that!"
Meanwhile, the film 'Florence,' starring Kim Min-jong, is scheduled for release in January next year.
Netizens reacted with comments like, 'Kim Min-jong has so much money he can just let go of a $600K Rolls-Royce?', 'Going salary-free is so cool,' and 'I'll definitely go watch the movie,' showing their admiration for his generosity and anticipation for the film.
