Netizen Claiming Joe Se-ho's Mob Ties Releases More Photos, Vows to Face Legal Action
A netizen, identified as 'A', who has accused comedian Joe Se-ho of having ties to organized crime figures, has released additional photos and declared their intention to face any legal action without backing down.
On the 10th, A posted on their social media account, stating, "The content I recently revealed has garnered significant attention and controversy. I accept both support and criticism humbly, but my sole purpose from the beginning has been to expose and rectify issues related to illegal gambling and the resulting damages."
Previously, A had alleged that Joe Se-ho maintained a close relationship with Choi, a key figure in organized crime accused of operating illegal gambling sites and money laundering. The netizen claimed Joe Se-ho received expensive gifts from Choi, attended drinking sessions, and promoted franchise businesses run by gang members, presenting photos as evidence.
Joe Se-ho's agency had officially responded, stating that Choi was merely an acquaintance met through event and broadcasting activities, and strongly denied any exchange of money or valuables. Following this, A had hinted at further revelations, urging Joe Se-ho to clarify the situation rather than just threatening legal action.
Amidst the controversy, Joe Se-ho announced his voluntary departure from tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' and KBS2's '2 Days & 1 Night Season 4' on the 9th. His agency reiterated that they intend to take a firm stance on the matter, aiming to resolve misunderstandings and restore his damaged image through swift and strong legal action. They emphasized that Joe Se-ho has no connection to Choi's business and that claims of receiving money for promotion are false.
A acknowledged Joe Se-ho's decision to step down, expressing respect for the difficult choice. However, responding to Joe Se-ho's statement about correcting false information through legal procedures, A stated, "I have compiled various tips and materials, but I believe they can only be reviewed within the necessary scope if legal proceedings commence. Seeing Joe Se-ho's attitude and willingness to take responsibility, I plan to keep any related materials private." A also refuted allegations of receiving money for settlement, stating, "I have never requested money from anyone, nor have I ever been involved in any financial offers or quid pro quo."
"Regarding the legal action threatened by Joe Se-ho and his agency, my position is clear. I will not evade any legal measures and will clarify any false claims through legal procedures. Even if I face disadvantages or personal safety concerns, I will persist in my efforts to correct the facts." A further added, "I am not acting to slander or attack any individual. I have acted on the principle that problems must be verified and revealed. I will not release unnecessary further exposés or comment on Joe Se-ho's statements." However, A warned, "If false claims are repeated or only unilateral legal action is mentioned regarding the content I have raised, I will respond based on verifiable facts at any time." To underscore their point, A uploaded a blurred photo that appeared to show Joe Se-ho and his wife.
Initially, A had stated an intention to release a photo of Joe Se-ho with his current wife and Choi at Choi's home before Joe Se-ho's marriage, if Joe Se-ho denied their acquaintance. The blurred photo of the couple is presumed to be a warning message to Joe Se-ho.
Joe Se-ho had previously posted on his social media on the 9th, acknowledging that as a public figure, he should have been more cautious with his relationships during his past regional event appearances, admitting to not handling all past connections maturely. While expressing deep regret, he reiterated that the suspicions arising from these connections are entirely untrue.
Korean netizens are reacting with a mix of support for the netizen's pursuit of truth and skepticism towards the comedian. Comments include, "I hope the truth comes out completely," "Joe Se-ho should properly face the legal action like a man," and "His image has been severely damaged by this controversy."
