Kim Go-eun Reveals Behind-the-Scenes of Her Shaved Head Look for 'The Price of Confessions': 'I Considered a Buzz Cut'

Actress Kim Go-eun has shared her thoughts on starring in the Netflix series 'The Price of Confessions' and revealed the story behind her daring shaved head hairstyle.

In an interview held at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, on the morning of the 12th, Kim Go-eun explained her decision to shave her head for her character 'Mo-eun' in the drama. She stated, "When I think about a character, external appearances often come to mind first," adding, "For Mo-eun, I felt that everything should be revealed, not hidden by her hair."

Kim Go-eun further surprised the audience by saying, "Actually, I cut it less than I thought," and "It was for everyone's sake." She elaborated, "I was considering almost a buzz cut, but I only cut it with scissors," and "A buzz cut is a style I've wanted to try at least once." She also revealed her long-held desire for bold styles, mentioning, "Even while working with my agency, I used to say, 'Wouldn't it be okay to try it once?'"

When asked about the reactions to her new hairstyle, Kim Go-eun couldn't help but laugh, recalling, "Everyone who saw it said, 'Wow... oh my...'" She admitted, "I now understand why men think down perms are important," and shared the difficulties of managing the hairstyle, stating, "It would pop up like grass as soon as it got warm, so I had to repeatedly get down perms." Despite this, when asked if she would consider a short haircut for a future project, she honestly replied, "I could if it were necessary, but since I've already done it once..."

Regarding the pressure of taking on a style that might be considered less conventionally 'pretty' on screen, she expressed her conviction: "What I consider pretty isn't about decorating my appearance, but about appearing authentically as the character. If I can convey emotions well and be captivating on screen, I think that's what looks beautiful." She also mentioned her efforts in managing puffiness for the role, saying, "I paid attention to managing swelling," and "I made efforts, such as avoiding soup dishes the night before."
