Actress Jeon Do-yeon has shared her candid thoughts on projects centered around female narratives.

In an interview held on the afternoon of the 12th at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, following the conclusion of the Netflix original series 'The Bequeathed,' Jeon Do-yeon spoke honestly about the recent spotlight on female-centric stories.

'The Bequeathed' is a mystery thriller that delves into the story of Yoon-soo (Jeon Do-yeon), accused of murdering her husband, and Eun-young (Kim Go-eun), an enigmatic figure known as a witch, and the secrets that bind these two women.

When asked about participating in works that highlight female narratives, Jeon Do-yeon stated, "The fact that people emphasize it as a story about two women, I think it might stem from a bias formed because, for so long, only male-centric stories existed."

She continued, "Female-led narratives are not inherently special, so it's a bit regrettable that they are now perceived as special at some point." She added, "It's been this way for so long, with male-centric stories dominating, that having two women as protagonists is considered an exceptional tale."

Jeon Do-yeon further speculated, "Perhaps viewers are also getting tired of male-centric stories, or find them predictable, leading them to seek out stories in different directions, such as female narratives." She cautiously concluded, "Ultimately, viewers find them 'entertaining,' but I suspect they also desire to see a wider variety of works and diverse actors."
