Kang Ho-dong, affectionately known as the 'Nation's MC' for his three decades of active broadcasting, is set to return to the solo talk show format after a 12-year hiatus.

OSEN confirmed on the 12th that Kang Ho-dong is currently preparing to launch a new talk show variety program in collaboration with Coupang Play. This marks his return to hosting a solo talk show approximately 12 years after his last endeavor in the genre.

Having transitioned from a ssireum (Korean wrestling) athlete to a comedian in 1993, Kang Ho-dong rose to fame through a plethora of variety shows, including 'Every Charmer,' 'X Man,' 'Golden Fishery,' 'Knee Drop Guru,' 'Star King,' and 'Strong Heart,' earning immense popularity.

He solidified his status as the 'Nation's MC' by leading '2 Days & 1 Night' to its peak popularity. Notably, he achieved a historic 'triple crown' by winning awards at the broadcasting networks' year-end ceremonies and became the first entertainer to win the Grand Prize in the TV category at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

In the 2000s, he was considered part of the 'Yoo-Kang system' alongside Yoo Jae-suk, dominating the variety show scene.
