Park Na-rae Faces New Controversy Over Unregistered Manager Social Insurance Amidst Hiatus
Comedian Park Na-rae is once again under fire, this time for allegations of failing to enroll her former managers in mandatory social insurance, adding to her recent controversies surrounding alleged '갑질' (abuse of power) and illegal medical procedures.
According to a report by Munhwa Ilbo on the 13th, it was revealed that Park Na-rae did not register her past managers for the '4대 보험' (Four Major Insurances), which include national pension, health insurance, employment insurance, and industrial accident compensation insurance.
Last September, several celebrities operating one-person agencies were caught violating the Development of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Act for failing to register as entertainment agencies. Park Na-rae reportedly enrolled her managers in the social insurance schemes belatedly, one year after their employment, to avoid penalties.
For the year prior to the insurance enrollment, these managers worked as freelancers, with only a 3.3% income tax deducted from their salaries. A former manager stated, "We worked without a contract and were paid after a 3.3% tax deduction. I repeatedly asked to be enrolled in the social insurance, but it was not done."
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae announced an indefinite hiatus from all broadcasting activities on the 8th due to the ongoing '갑질' and illegal medical procedure scandal. This led to her withdrawal from major programs including MBC's 'I Live Alone' and 'Homerun', as well as tvN's 'Amazing Saturday'. The series of controversies following her hiatus announcement has intensified public criticism.
Netizens expressed strong reactions, with comments like, "Treating former managers as freelancers while enrolling herself and her family in social insurance? Isn't that unfair?", "Problems keep arising; a hiatus alone seems insufficient," and "Genuine apology and responsible actions are needed."
