SF9's Youngbin Steps into the Spotlight as a Musical Actor in 'The Last: Secretly, Greatly'

Kim Young-bin, better known as Youngbin, the leader of K-pop group SF9, is set to make his musical debut.

Youngbin has been cast in the upcoming 10th-anniversary production of the musical 'The Last: Secretly, Greatly,' which premieres on January 30th next year. Although not initially part of the announced cast of 20 performers, he recently joined as a main cast member, taking on a pivotal role.

'The Last: Secretly, Greatly' is based on a popular webtoon and a successful film of the same name. The story follows elite North Korean spies who infiltrate a South Korean neighborhood, living under the guise of a simpleton, an aspiring singer, and a high school student. Youngbin will portray Ri Hae-rang, the son of a high-ranking North Korean official who aspires to be a rock singer in South Korea. This role was previously played by his SF9 bandmate, Yoo Tae-yang, in earlier seasons, adding a special layer of significance.

The production promises spectacular action and performances, including acrobatics, b-boying, and group choreography, thanks to the collaboration of director Choo Jung-hwa, composer Huh Soo-hyun, choreographer Kim Byung-jin, and martial arts director Seo Jung-joo. Youngbin, known within SF9 as a versatile performer with strong rap, dance, and vocal skills, has also previously engaged in acting through web dramas. He plans to bring the character of Ri Hae-rang to life by leveraging his solid foundation and stage experience.

The 10th-anniversary performances of 'The Last: Secretly, Greatly' will run from January 30th to April 26th at the NOL Theater at Woori Art Hall in Daehangno.
