Jung Kyung-ho, playing Kang Da-wit in the tvN weekend drama 'A Bloody Lawyer' (Pro Bono), has experienced his first defeat in court against the very foundation of the law: the constitution.

In the third episode aired on the 13th, Kang Da-wit took on a damages lawsuit for a boy named Kim Kang-hoon, who has a disability. Despite his efforts, the team suffered a loss in the first trial. The episode garnered significant attention, ranking first in its time slot among cable and general programming channels in the Seoul metropolitan area with an average viewership rating of 5.1% and a peak of 6.1%. Nationally, it achieved an average of 5% and a peak of 6%, also securing the top spot. The 2049 target audience rating for tvN also placed first in its time slot.

The case began when Kim Kang-hoon approached Kang Da-wit with an unbelievable request: to sue God for damages. While some within the team argued for the significance of the case, others voiced skepticism, calling it 'false hope.' Meanwhile, Park Gi-bbeum (So Ju-yeon) began her own investigation and discovered a potential defendant: the obstetrics and gynecology clinic where Kim Kang-hoon was born. It was revealed that the clinic might have induced labor despite the mother's wishes and failed to conduct necessary tests.

However, the hospital's lawyer, Woo Myung-hoon (Choi Dae-hoon), countered by stating that key medical records were beyond their legal retention period and accused the mother of ungratefully repaying the kindness of a welfare foundation that tried to help her as a runaway teenager.

As the situation grew critical, Kang Da-wit uncovered evidence that Woongsan General Hospital had an unusual aversion to abortions. He connected this to the Elliot Foundation, the Woongsan Welfare Foundation, and Chairman Choi Woong-san, suggesting that the chairman's beliefs might have influenced medical practices.

Despite a passionate defense, the first trial was dismissed. The judge stated that according to the constitution, which upholds the equality and respect for all lives, Kim Kang-hoon's claim that his life was a 'damage' could not be legally recognized. Undeterred, Kang Da-wit proposed a new strategy for the appeal, vowing to challenge the practical application of the constitution's principle of treating all lives with dignity and equality. He further escalated the stakes by declaring his intention to directly sue Chairman Choi Woong-san if damages were proven.

Netizens reacted with a mix of sympathy and anticipation, commenting, "Jung Kyung-ho's acting is incredible, as always," and "It's heartbreaking to see them hit a wall with the constitution, but I'm excited for the appeal."
