Park Na-rae Embroiled in Controversy Over 'Injection Auntie' Accompaniment; Removed from 'I Live Alone' Cast List
Broadcaster Park Na-rae is facing escalating controversy surrounding allegations of illegal medical services and accompanying an individual referred to as an 'injection auntie' during an overseas filming.
According to a recent report by Channel A, Park Na-rae was discovered at her accommodation during the filming of MBC's 'I Live Alone' in Taiwan in November 2023. She had reportedly accompanied Ms. Lee, known as the 'injection auntie,' without the production team's permission.
While Park Na-rae had previously explained that she received legitimate house call medical treatments amidst allegations of illegal procedures, claims have emerged suggesting that text messages indicate her awareness of the potential problematic nature of the situation.
A former manager alleged that Park Na-rae attempted to silence them, saying, "This is completely problematic," "I hope this doesn't get known in Korea," and "The company must never find out." The manager reportedly replied, "Yes, I haven't told the company."
Another contentious issue is the alleged coercion of illegal medical law violations. The former manager claims to have received messages from Park Na-rae stating, "This is also a form of artist care, why aren't you providing it?" and "Once you've received (the drugs) once, you can't escape either, and you might not be able to work in this field ever again."
The controversy has also impacted her television appearances. The production team of MBC's 'I Live Alone' has removed Park Na-rae from the cast list. Since November 11th, her name is absent from the 'I Live Alone' cast list on Naver, a stark contrast to actor Lee Jang-woo, who remains on the list despite announcing his departure due to marriage.
Furthermore, Park Na-rae's presence from her nine-year tenure on the show is no longer visible in previous cast sections. During the opening of 'I Live Alone' broadcast on the 12th, her name was not mentioned. The episode focused on baseball player Kim Ha-seong as the 'Rainbow Live' feature, with only Jun Hyun-moo, Kian84, Code Kunst, Im Woo-il, and Ko Kang-yong present in the studio. This deviates from the usual practice of providing updates on absent members during the opening.
This broadcast marked the first episode following Park Na-rae's de facto announcement of departure, and ratings have subsequently seen a decline. According to Nielsen Korea, the previous day's episode of 'I Live Alone' recorded a metropolitan household viewership rating of 4.7%, hitting its lowest point of the year.
Netizens have reacted with disappointment and disbelief, with comments like, "Truly disappointing," "How could this happen?" and "Shouldn't she be removed from the show?" Some fans are cautiously awaiting further developments, stating, "I hope the truth comes out."
