Actor Yeo Jin-goo has officially begun his military service today, December 15th, enlisting as a KATUSA (Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army).

Yeo Jin-goo will be serving for approximately 1 year and 6 months, marking the start of his hiatus from the entertainment industry.

Ahead of his enlistment, the actor shared a striking 'buzz cut' photo on his social media on December 14th, bidding a pre-emptive farewell to his fans. The image featured a cake decorated with his cut hair, heart shapes, and Yeo Jin-goo striking a salute, capturing attention and showcasing his dignified appearance with a new, shorter hairstyle.

His agency had previously confirmed his enlistment details last month. "Yeo Jin-goo has been selected for KATUSA and will be serving for approximately 1 year and 6 months starting Monday, December 15th," they stated. The agency also requested privacy, noting that the enlistment ceremony would be attended by many soldiers and their families, and asked fans to refrain from visiting the site.

In a heartfelt handwritten letter prior to his departure, Yeo Jin-goo expressed his gratitude and mixed emotions. Yeo Jin-goo promised, "While I am away from you for a while, I will return as a stronger and more mature person! I promise to stand before you with a healthier body and mind, and with even deeper acting skills." He concluded by wishing his fans good health and happiness, urging them to eat well and live joyfully during his absence.

Yeo Jin-goo debuted in 2005 with the film 'Sad Movie' and has since impressed audiences with his performances in numerous works, including the dramas 'The Moon Embracing the Sun', 'The Crowned Clown', 'Hotel Del Luna', 'Beyond Evil', and films like 'Hwayi: A Monster Boy' and 'Hijacking'.
