Gu Kyo-hwan Reveals the True Identity of 'So-jeong' from Blue Dragon Awards Speech

Actor Gu Kyo-hwan has hilariously shed light on the mysterious 'So-jeong' who became a hot topic during the Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony.

Appearing on the YouTube channel 'Yojung Jaehyung,' Gu was asked by Jung Jae-hyung, 'Who is So-jeong?' to which he playfully responded, 'So-jeong is everyone's.'

He explained, 'So many people were really curious about who So-jeong is.' Gu revealed that he was inspired by the name 'So-jeong,' which Leon Lai used to call his wife in China in the film 'Comrades: Almost a Love Story.' He shared, 'That repeated calling in letters and narration lingered in my heart for a long time,' naming 'Comrades: Almost a Love Story' as a deeply impactful film.

'Leon Lai kept calling out, 'So-jeong ah, So-jeong ah.' I really liked that feeling, and I wanted to use a name like that someday,' Gu explained. 'It's not referring to a specific real person. It felt like the name of someone who could exist anywhere in our world.' He further elaborated, 'As I continue to work, there will be many So-jeongs. There will be characters in the works, or perhaps each audience member will have their own So-jeong.'

When asked if he had prepared an acceptance speech, he answered, 'I prepared half of it, and left the other half to the atmosphere of the day.'

At the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony held on November 19th, Gu Kyo-hwan took the stage as an award presenter for the Cheongjungwon Short Film Award. He delivered a memorable moment by saying, 'I am filming a short film today. Perhaps this scene could appear in my short film. Ready, action.' He then humorously proceeded as if accepting an award, stating, 'Thank you so much for giving me the Popularity Award for the third time. I won't forget this popularity and will act even harder. And So-jeong, I love you,' eliciting laughter from the audience.
