G-Dragon Conquers Encore Stage with 'Clown' Persona, Hints at BIGBANG Comeback
Global superstar G-Dragon (GD) has successfully concluded his '2025 World Tour Act III : Motte' with a spectacular encore performance at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
The concert kicked off with a powerful rendition of his new track 'POWER,' featuring an intense metal arrangement that immediately captivated the 18,000 fans in attendance. GD’s signature swagger and sharp rapping commanded the stage, leaving the audience in awe.
A surprise appearance by BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung during the performance of 'HOME SWEET HOME' sent waves of excitement through the venue, proving the enduring synergy of the iconic group.
Despite recent concerns over his live vocal performance at an awards show, GD chose a path of 'clever improvisation' over technical perfection. He embraced the role of a 'clown,' masterfully controlling the energy of the live audience rather than adhering strictly to pitch and rhythm.
His interaction with the fans was particularly special. GD ventured into the floor seating, playfully taking fans' phones to record quirky selfies and spontaneously incorporating a fan-donated hat into his choreography. His playful demeanor, reminiscent of a mischievous boy, elicited cheers and heart emojis from the crowd, only to transform instantly into a charismatic artist as the music shifted – a testament to his innate talent.
The concert featured a non-stop parade of hit songs including 'MichiGO,' 'One of a Kind,' 'Crayon,' 'Crooked,' and 'Heartbreak.' The performance was elevated by a spectacular array of stage effects, including dazzling lasers, confetti, and drone shows, reminiscent of a blockbuster movie. Collaborative stages, such as the 'Smoke' challenge with dancer Bada and a segment with beatbox group Pentatonix, added further excitement.
Reflecting on his world tour, which began in March, GD shared, "The start was met with natural disasters, so my heart was always heavy. I waited for this day for 8 months." He added, "I never expected to receive so much love on tour. I wanted to have a performance filled with back-and-forth with my fans."
Hinting at BIGBANG's future activities, GD announced, "Next year marks BIGBANG's 20th anniversary. We'll have a coming-of-age ceremony." He further revealed, "We'll start warming up from April. The Coachella performance was a sort of workshop," igniting fervent anticipation among fans.
Reuniting with Taeyang and Daesung for 'We Like 2 Party' and 'Haru Haru,' the stage showcased the strong bond forged over two decades. GD concluded the roughly three-hour concert, performing 22 songs, with the emotional rendition of 'Untitled,' his eyes welling up as he marked the end of his journey.
Through his talent, showmanship, and genuine affection for his fans, G-Dragon transformed doubts into praise. His tour spanned 17 cities and 39 shows, drawing a total of 825,000 fans. Yet, more luminous than these impressive statistics was the sight of 'Kwon Ji-yong' radiating pure happiness on stage.
Korean netizens are buzzing with excitement, with comments like 'As expected from GD!', 'So happy to see BIGBANG together again', 'Can't wait for the comeback', and 'A true artist who knows how to enjoy the stage.' Many praised his performance, noting, 'It's night and day compared to when his condition wasn't good' and 'A true professional.'
