Actor Go Joon Reveals He Suffered Partial Paralysis During 'Tazza 2' Filming, Almost Lost Career

Actor Go Joon shared a shocking revelation about nearly giving up acting after suffering from partial paralysis during the filming of the movie 'Tazza 2'.

Appearing on the Channel A variety show ‘Friendly Documentary - A Meal for Four’ on the 15th, Go Joon recounted the harrowing experience to his close friends Jo Jae-yoon and Lee Sang-joon.

He explained, "'Tazza 2' was the opportunity I had wished for after 18 years of obscurity. But two-thirds of the way through filming, I became partially paralyzed."

Go Joon elaborated on the cause, stating, "I was too immersed in the role, which lowered my immunity, leading to shingles. The shingles attached to my brain, not just my body, causing paralysis."

He continued, "The golden period for recovery is six months, and it had been over seven months, but I still couldn't move. I visited seven hospitals, and six told me I wouldn't be able to act anymore. I thought I had lost my dream and my profession all over again."

Describing the difficulties, he said, "The muscles on the paralyzed side would sag. I had wires inserted to create a skeletal structure in my mouth to act, but sometimes I'd miss my mark and pierce my gums, causing bleeding and leading to NGs."

Fortunately, the production team showed understanding, altering the storyboards to shoot mostly from his good side. Go Joon shared, "The production team's consideration allowed us to finish the movie. Some scenes only show me from one side."

He concluded by revealing his recovery: "I was unable to heal for two and a half years, receiving acupuncture 200 times daily. Miraculously, I recovered completely."

Reflecting on his personality change post-illness, Go Joon added, "If I'm not trying to be funny, I'm a very serious and uninteresting person. After being ill, my personality changed. I constantly feel the urge to make people laugh."
