Actress Lee Joo-bin Opens Up About Her Role in 'Spring Fever': 'I Focused on Expressing Delicate Emotions as a Mysterious Teacher'
Actress Lee Joo-bin, known for her multifaceted charm, has revealed her aspirations for the upcoming drama 'Spring Fever'.
Scheduled to premiere on January 5, 2026, tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'Spring Fever' (Directed by Park Won-gook, Written by Kim A-jung) is a hot pink romance that promises to melt even the coldest hearts, telling the story of cold-hearted teacher Yoon Bom (played by Lee Joo-bin) and the passionate Sun Jae-gyu (played by Ahn Bo-hyun).
Lee Joo-bin takes on the role of Yoon Bom, a high school teacher whose mysterious aura sparks curiosity among the villagers. Once popular and loved in Seoul due to her natural talent, Yoon Bom closes herself off after a shocking incident and moves to a small school in the countryside.
Anticipation is high for Lee Joo-bin's performance, which is expected to anchor the drama. She shared, "When I first read the script, I thought I could enjoy portraying 'Yoon Bom,' and I really wanted to be a part of it." She added, "Since the filming location is a coastal town, I feel like I can film happily every day, as if I'm on a trip."
Describing her character, Lee Joo-bin said, "Yoon Bom is a mysterious teacher who has closed herself off and moved to a rural school. While she appears calm on the outside, she harbors inner wounds and loneliness. As she is a multi-dimensional character where darkness and light coexist, I focused on delicately controlling the emotional tone."
Taking on the role of a teacher for the first time, Lee Joo-bin shared, "I practiced writing on the blackboard a lot to appear natural during class scenes. Since I had to write while delivering lines, I paid close attention to the natural flow between my hand movements, gaze, and speech rhythm. I also refined my tone and gestures to feel like a real teacher when interacting with students."
Lee Joo-bin identified 'cat,' 'transparency,' and 'stickler for rules' as keywords to describe her character. She expressed her affection for Yoon Bom, stating, "Bom is initially very wary, but once she opens her heart, she is warmer and more affectionate than anyone else. Although she thinks she's hiding her emotions, they are clearly revealed in her expressions and actions. This honesty is one of Bom's charming aspects that makes her lovable." She further explained, "Despite her stylish appearance, she is conservative and values principles. I think this personality fits well with the profession of an 'ethics teacher.'"
Furthermore, Lee Joo-bin praised her co-stars, saying, "The actors have great chemistry. Surprisingly, there were many action scenes, and Ahn Bo-hyun is skilled at action, so he was a great help. Thanks to him, we were able to complete even the tense scenes smoothly." She concluded by describing 'Spring Fever' as a drama filled with healing, laughter, and warmth, adding, "I hope it brings a sense of warmth to viewers' hearts and offers them small comfort and smiles. Please look forward to it as we await the coming spring."
Netizens are buzzing with excitement over Lee Joo-bin's casting. Comments like, "I can't wait to see Lee Joo-bin's acting!", "I'm so curious about her chemistry with Ahn Bo-hyun!", and "I'll definitely tune in for the premiere!" are flooding in.
