Director Kim Byung-woo of the Netflix original film 'The Great Flood' has revealed the behind-the-scenes story of casting actor Kwon Eun-sung, drawing significant attention.

The production presentation for 'The Great Flood' was held on the morning of the 16th at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Director Kim Byung-woo, along with actors Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo, attended the event.

'The Great Flood' is an SF disaster blockbuster that depicts the desperate struggle of individuals fighting for the last hope of humanity's survival on the final day of Earth, ravaged by a massive flood.

Regarding the casting of Kwon Eun-sung, who plays Shim Ja-in, the son of researcher Goo Anna (played by Kim Da-mi), Director Kim Byung-woo stated, "We met and auditioned quite a number of child actors. It was a very long process. He was probably cast the latest."

He continued, "I discussed this extensively with actress Kim Da-mi. We wanted him to look like a typical kid living next door. However, that kind of naturalness was surprisingly difficult to find."

Director Kim added, "Then, a potato seemed to roll in from somewhere and sit on a chair. I thought, 'Is this the one?' I was so pleased with how he performed the prepared acting without any pressure, just naturally," he confessed, revealing his affection for the young actor.

When asked if he ever feels a sense of impending success during auditions, Kwon Eun-sung shyly replied, "Sometimes."

He further shared, "With 'The Great Flood,' I was actually unsure. I thought I might get cast, or I might not. I was waiting the most for their call," he said, recalling his anticipation.

'The Great Flood' is set to be released on the 19th.

Netizens have reacted positively to the news, with comments like "Kwon Eun-sung's acting was so natural," "Director Kim Byung-woo truly has a great eye for talent," and "Looking forward to the release next week!" showing excitement for his performance and the film.
