OH MY GIRL's YooA Dives into Acting with 'Project Y', Shares Experience Alongside Han So-hee & Jeon Jong-seo

YooA, a member of the girl group OH MY GIRL, is making her acting debut in the film 'Project Y' and has shared her thoughts on working with actresses Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo.

The production report meeting for 'Project Y' was held on the afternoon of the 16th at Megabox COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Leading cast members Han So-hee, Jeon Jong-seo, Kim Shin-rok, Jung Young-joo, Lee Jae-gyoon, and YooA, alongside director Lee Hwan, attended the event, hosted by Jae Jae, to discuss the film.

'Project Y' tells the story of Mi-sun (Han So-hee) and Do-kyung (Jeon Jong-seo), who live dreaming of a different tomorrow in the heart of a glittering city. Their lives take a drastic turn when they steal black money and gold bars at the brink of their lives. The addition of YooA from OH MY GIRL to this ensemble cast is generating significant anticipation for a fresh and diverse cinematic experience. YooA will portray Ha-kyung, the wife of a loan shark (Kim Sung-chul), who holds crucial information that shakes up the entire plot, adding charm and depth with her captivating character.

Regarding her casting, YooA shared, "I was curious after hearing news about So-hee and Jong-seo, whom I really admire through media. I never expected an opportunity to come my way, but the director proposed the role, saying they needed a 'fresh betrayal,' so I decided to participate."

She also commented on her first acting role, admitting shyly, "This is my first time acting, and I'm playing a married woman." She added, "Ha-kyung is the catalyst for the project where Do-kyung and Mi-sun steal the money," sparking curiosity.

Director Lee Hwan spoke about casting YooA, stating, "I don't know many idols, but I'd seen YooA on TV a few times. I was thinking about an actress who could deliver a great sense of betrayal for this character, and then I wondered, 'Could YooA do this?' So, I took a chance. During our meeting, she readily agreed after I explained the script, and I feel honored to have worked with her. I think I'm quite lucky."

Responding to the director, YooA expressed, "I was a huge fan of Han So-hee and Jeon Jong-seo. Seeing them in person, they were even more beautiful. I was nervous because I had overlapping scenes with Jong-seo, but watching her command her scenes made me realize, 'This is how an actress acts; it's different from being an idol.' I aspire to be an actress like that." She continued, "When I visited the set, So-hee unnie approached me first and initiated a conversation. She told me, 'Seeing that you chose this, you must be quite something too.' I feel fortunate to have met such wonderful people."

'Project Y' is scheduled to premiere on January 21, 2026.
