Chef Seonjae-nim & Hoodduckju's 'Black & White Chefs 2' Casting Revealed: PD Kim Eun-ji Admits Initial Hesitation
Director Kim Eun-ji of Netflix's 'Black & White Chefs: Culinary Class Wars 2' shared behind-the-scenes details about casting revered chefs, including Chef Seonjae-nim and Hoodduckju, for the second season.
At a press conference held on the 17th at JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Seoul, Kim Eun-ji explained her initial reservations, stating, "During Season 1, I hesitated to even propose appearing to chefs like Seonjae-nim and Hoodduckju, fearing it might be an audacious request." She added, "However, for Season 2, I gathered the courage to ask, even if they might refuse. I was truly surprised when they readily accepted."
The director also expressed her excitement during the casting process, noting, "I wanted to boast about the completed lineup of 100 chefs as soon as possible." 'Black & White Chefs 2' portrays a culinary battle where chefs aim to overturn class distinctions solely through taste, challenged by top star chefs defending their positions. The show premiered on Netflix on the 16th.
Upon hearing the stories behind casting prominent chefs who were previously unavailable, Korean netizens commented, "PD Kim Eun-ji's casting power is amazing!", "Chef Seonjae-nim and Hoodduckju will be appearing! I have to watch live", and "The casting for this show is always top-notch, just like in Season 1." Their reactions showcased heightened anticipation for the new season.
