SHINee's Key Steps Down from Programs Amid 'Needle Aunt' Controversy; Contrasting Response with Park Na-rae

Key, a member of the K-pop group SHINee, has announced his departure from all programs following a controversy surrounding his association with an individual known as 'Needle Aunt.' His agency, SM Entertainment, released an official statement explaining that Key first met the individual at a clinic recommended by a friend and initially believed her to be a doctor.

Key continued to receive treatment at the clinic and, on a few occasions when unable to visit, received care at his home. The agency stated that Key was unaware of any wrongdoing and did not suspect any issues, as he believed her to be a licensed professional. However, upon the emergence of the medical license controversy, Key recently learned she was not a doctor and is reportedly deeply remorseful for his lack of awareness.

In contrast, broadcaster Park Na-rae is also facing allegations of receiving illicit medical procedures from the same individual. However, Park Na-rae's response has differed significantly from Key's. Instead of a clear explanation or apology, her representatives have indicated a refusal to issue further statements, citing ongoing legal proceedings.

Park Na-rae announced a temporary break from broadcasting via a video message, but made no mention of 'Needle Aunt' or 'IV Drip Aunt,' nor did she address whether she was aware of the individual's medical license status. The police investigation into the 'Needle Aunt' case is currently underway, with related complaints and accusations against Park Na-rae also being investigated at the police level.
