Handball Queen Kim On-a, Judo Champion Kim Seong-yeon, and Swimming Star Jung Yu-in Join 'Queen of Baseball'
The new sports entertainment show 'Queen of Baseball' has officially recruited three legendary athletes: Kim On-a from handball, Kim Seong-yeon from judo, and Jung Yu-in from swimming.
These elite athletes will join the cast for the show's premiere in November, forming a 'one team' with captain Park Se-ri and coach Choo Shin-soo.
'Queen of Baseball' is a sports variety program where top female athletes from various disciplines take on the unfamiliar challenge of baseball. The show reunites director Shin Jae-ho of 'Steel Unit W' with writer Kang Suk-kyung, who also worked on 'Steel Unit W' and 'Physical 100' seasons 1 and 2.
Kim On-a, a handball ace, is a gold medalist from the 2014 and 2018 Asian Games and a bronze medalist from the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Her strong pitching arm and accuracy have already earned her a spot as a pitcher on the team.
Kim Seong-yeon, a judo gold medalist from the 2014 Asian Games, will play third base. Her agility and power are expected to make her a defensive genius.
Jung Yu-in, a celebrated swimmer with multiple national championship titles, is set to become a powerful hitter and an outfield slugger, leveraging her exceptional arm strength.
Notably, these three athletes were personally scouted by captain Park Se-ri, who possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of female athletes across different sports.
The production team expressed high expectations, stating, "As close friends and fellow elite athletes, Kim On-a, Kim Seong-yeon, and Jung Yu-in will undoubtedly boost team morale with their solid teamwork. Their distinct strengths will position them as key players, showcasing an amazing growth story."
'Queen of Baseball,' highlighting the genuine challenge of these sports queens, is set to premiere in November.
Kim On-a was a pivotal player for the South Korean national handball team, known for her exceptional game management and scoring ability. She also secured a silver medal at the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, significantly contributing to the prestige of Korean handball. After retiring, she has dedicated herself to coaching and nurturing the next generation of athletes.
