Chung Won-kwan Flaunts Past Wealth from Sobangcha Days: 'Spent It All Lavishly on Cars, Trips, and Fashion'
Former singer and businessman Chung Won-kwan has garnered attention by discussing his past financial success during his time with the group Sobangcha.
Appearing on actor Song Seung-hwan's YouTube channel, 'Song Seung-hwan's Wonderful Life,' Chung Won-kwan candidly shared details about his income and spending habits from that era.
Song Seung-hwan queried Chung Won-kwan, asking, 'You must have earned a fortune during Sobangcha's peak. Money earned young rarely lasts. You were performing at 11 venues nightly, doing commercials, and appearing on TV in your 20s – how did you manage all that income?'
Chung Won-kwan responded with a laugh, 'I don't know where it all went,' admitting, 'I spent it all, without holding back.' He explained that he often traveled abroad at his own expense, buying clothes directly and incurring significant opportunity costs.
'We always went abroad at our own expense, and when choosing clothes, I'd personally shop in places like Japan, Hong Kong, and the US,' he added. He reminisced further, 'I always took my friends with me and was the first to pay. I learned a lot and spent a lot.'
He concluded by saying, 'Maintaining relationships with those friends I shared drinks and good times with back then has become a valuable network for me. Those memories are a great comfort and something I'm very grateful for.'
Chung Won-kwan debuted in 1987 as a member of the highly popular group Sobangcha. After the group disbanded, he successfully transitioned into a career as a businessman. He has also been actively appearing on various variety shows recently.
