Full-Term Pregnant Woman Surfs on TV, Hosts Astonished
A soon-to-be mother, 39 weeks into her pregnancy, surprised viewers by surfing on the TV Chosun variety show 'My Baby is Born Again' (Uagi).
The episode, which aired recently, depicted the day before the mother's delivery. Hosts Park Soo-hong and Jang Seo-hee met with the expectant mother, who already has a 13-month-old child and was carrying her second baby due around 42 weeks.
Her surfing at 39 weeks pregnant became a major talking point. Park Soo-hong and Jang Seo-hee expressed concern, asking, "We thought you were foreign. Is it okay to exercise like this while pregnant?"
The mother confidently replied, "This isn't strenuous exercise for me. I've always loved sports." She revealed her background as a former national surfing reserve team member and a surfing judge. She also holds various wakeboarding awards and coaching certifications.
Park Soo-hong noted, "This is my first time seeing a pregnancy at 42 weeks. Babies are usually born around 38 weeks, and her due date was already ten days ago." He shared his own worries when his wife passed her due date.
The mother explained, "I believe the baby will come when ready. My first child was also born at 41 weeks." She added, "I wanted a natural birth but ended up having an emergency C-section."
When asked about the baby's condition at 42 weeks, a point where placental aging can pose risks, the mother reassured everyone that the baby was growing well and healthy. The hosts expressed relief upon hearing the good news.
'My Baby is Born Again' sheds light on the precious moments of birth in an era of low birth rates and airs every Tuesday at 10 PM.
The mother showcased exceptional athleticism, having been a part of the national surfing reserve team. She is also recognized as a surfing judge, highlighting her expertise in the sport. Beyond surfing, she has achieved multiple awards in wakeboarding and holds coaching certifications.
