Director Lee Ho-hyun of the new MBN drama ‘First Lady’ has spoken out regarding concerns about the drama’s political undertones.

At the press conference held on the afternoon of the 24th at The Link Seoul in Guro-gu, Seoul, Director Lee shared his candid thoughts on the drama being linked to political films and the current political climate.

"I don't know much about politics and I'm not particularly interested in political issues," Lee stated. "The reason I wanted to describe this drama as a 'melodrama' and a human drama is simply because of the characters' professions; we didn't intend to reveal any political leanings."

He continued, "I believe the production company had some concerns about the political aspect. My depiction of the president-elect, Hyun Min-cheol, as a fantasy was not to support or criticize any specific party, but rather a hope that a day would come when someone like 'number three' could also be elected."

"While there might be elements that connect with current political issues, neither the writer nor I intended this, and we hope viewers will focus on the relationships and stories between the characters," he requested.

‘First Lady’ tells the story of a president-elect who demands a divorce from his wife, an unprecedented situation. The drama premieres tonight, the 24th, at 10:20 PM.

Director Lee Ho-hyun emphasized his desire to focus on melodrama and human drama with ‘First Lady’. He expressed a preference for viewers to concentrate on the characters' relationships rather than political interpretations. His approach appears to prioritize universal human stories over explicit political statements.
