Jo Woo-jin on Facing Lee Byung-hun in the Box Office: 'We're Aiming for the Same Goal with 'Boss' and 'The Match' After 'Cobweb''
Actor Jo Woo-jin, a key figure in the upcoming film 'Boss', has shared his candid thoughts on potentially competing with actor Lee Byung-hun at the box office.
During the press preview for 'Boss' held on the 24th, Jo Woo-jin addressed the situation of his film being released alongside Lee Byung-hun's 'Heaven: To the Land of Happiness' (tentative title 'Eojjeolsugabeopsda' in Korean) during the Chuseok holiday season.
'Boss' is a comic action film depicting the intense rivalry among gang members vying to become the next boss, culminating in a comedic race to yield the position to one another. Jo Woo-jin had previously collaborated with Lee Byung-hun in the film 'The Match' (also known as 'Seungbu'), released earlier this year in March.
Reflecting on this, Jo Woo-jin commented, "It seems Mr. Lee Byung-hun and I have become linked again, first with 'The Match' and now with 'Boss' and 'Heaven'. I don't see it as a direct competition. Rather, I hope both films offer a great opportunity to energize the cinema industry."
He added, "I hope both movies can bring happiness to audiences, provide a chance to enjoy good cinema, and become a strong duo that revitalizes the box office." He concluded his remarks with a plea, "Please give us your support."
'Boss' is scheduled to premiere on October 3rd.
