Byun Woo-seok Steps Up to Support Independent Films with 'SIFF X Byun Woo-seok: Shorts on 2025' Project

Actor Byun Woo-seok is lending his support to the creation of independent films.

In collaboration with the Seoul Independent Film Festival (SIFF) 2025, he is launching a special project for emerging creators, titled 'SIFF X Byun Woo-seok: Shorts on 2025'. Byun has shown deep affection for the project by participating from the initial planning stages.

The SIFF announced on the 24th that applications for this project will be open from July 10th to July 24th. This initiative aims to discover talented new creators and provide tangible support for their artistic endeavors.

Byun Woo-seok shared his motivation, stating, "If one has influence, one should contribute that influence to both the public and others." This sentiment drove his involvement in the project.

The theme for the selected short films is 'Love'. A total of up to three narrative short films will be chosen to receive differentiated production funding totaling 30 million KRW. Byun Woo-seok himself will directly participate in the final selection process to encourage promising creators. Selected filmmakers will also benefit from mentorship opportunities with his agency, Baro Entertainment, and their completed works will be screened and distributed at the 51st Seoul Independent Film Festival.

Byun Woo-seok is currently busy filming the new MBC drama 'The Lady of the Century 21'. He has also been cast as the lead in the Netflix series 'Solo Leveling', generating significant anticipation. In a recently released photoshoot for Dazed Korea magazine, he captivated fans by showcasing a wide range of charms, from chic to soft charisma.
