Park Gyu-young and Park Na-rae Bond Over 'Latissimus Dorsi' Workouts, Agree 'Swimsuits are About Confidence'
Actress Park Gyu-young and comedian Park Na-rae found common ground over their dedication to working out, particularly focusing on their latissimus dorsi muscles.
In an episode of the YouTube channel 'Na Rae-si' uploaded on the 24th, Park Gyu-young, who is awaiting the release of the Netflix film 'The Mangrove,' appeared as a guest.
When Park Na-rae inquired about Park Gyu-young's fitness routine, the actress replied, "I wake up, have coffee, and then work out. I mostly do weight training." Park Na-rae expressed delight, saying, "It's good to meet people who enjoy pulling!" and asked about her preferred exercises. Park Gyu-young confidently stated, "I've almost mastered back exercises," to which Park Na-rae playfully responded, "Are you talking about that in front of Park Gwang-bae (referring to the latissimus dorsi muscle)? Have you developed your lats?"
Park Gyu-young confessed, "I did develop my lats, but when I tried to wear clothes, I realized it wouldn't work. While it made my back look strong, it made it difficult to button up my clothes." She further explained that for her role in 'The Mangrove,' she intensively trained her back, arms, and shoulders.
The two women discussed the challenges of building such musculature as women, showing mutual respect. Park Na-rae proudly displayed her deltoids, remarking, "There aren't many women with this level of deltoid development." Park Gyu-young was impressed and briefly showed her own arm muscles.
When asked if her workouts had become enjoyable, Park Gyu-young inquired, "Aren't they fun now that you've reached this level?" Park Na-rae replied, "They're not fun at all. But if I feel like I've lost a bit, I tell myself, 'Let's do some lat pulldowns today' or 'Let's do push-ups,'" a sentiment that deeply resonated with Park Gyu-young.
Park Gyu-young revealed that she weighed about 15 kg more during her school days. After her debut, she began dieting because she wanted to dress prettily and appear more distinct on screen. She also mentioned undergoing extensive action training for the upcoming movie, which features many action sequences.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae mentioned an article that listed Kwon Eun-bi, Park Gyu-young, and herself as role models for female celebrities' swimsuit styles. "I was so happy about that," she said. Park Gyu-young humbly responded, "I feel too sorry to be mentioned in the same category as Eun-bi님; she's like a goddess."
When Park Na-rae declared, "Bikinis are all about the vibe," Park Gyu-young agreed, stating, "That's right. It's about confidence. I'm going to wear it, so what's the problem?" expressing her firm belief.
Park Gyu-young made her acting debut in the 2016 drama 'The Flower of Queen.' She has since garnered attention for her roles in 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay,' 'Sweet Home,' and 'Doona!,' showcasing her versatile acting abilities. Her performance in the Netflix series 'Sweet Home' was particularly noteworthy, expanding her acting range. She is expected to deliver a powerful action performance in the recently released film 'The Mangrove.'
