Kyuhyun Reappointed as Taiwan Tourism Ambassador for Second Consecutive Year, Becomes Face of 'Meet Taiwan Again!' Campaign
Taiwan Tourism has officially appointed singer Kyuhyun as their ambassador for the second year in a row, celebrating the island's charm.
The announcement was made during the '2025 New TVC Premiere' event held at the Kensington Hotel in Yeouido, Seoul, where new promotional plans targeting Korean tourists were unveiled.
Kyuhyun expressed his deep connection to Taiwan, stating, "I've held numerous Super Junior concerts in Taiwan and visited many times as a traveler, so this is more than just an ambassadorship. I filmed this advertisement from a traveler's perspective so viewers can empathize with the experience. I want to help young Koreans feel more familiar with Taiwan."
This year's campaign theme is 'Meet Taiwan Again!', centered around the concept of 'A Friend's Invitation.' The advertisements depict Kyuhyun being invited by a Taiwanese friend to experience the country.
Mr. Kuo Sheng-yu, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Korea, shared, "We wanted to showcase a Taiwan that people would want to visit again. We hope Kyuhyun helps viewers experience traditional breakfasts, hot springs, and the unique culinary delights of southern Taiwan."
Kyuhyun particularly praised the Taiwanese dish 'nabeyaki udon,' calling it a perfect breakfast that even non-drinkers would consider the ultimate hangover cure.
The new series of four videos will highlight various Taiwanese attractions, including night running in Taipei, surfing and hot springs on the northern coast, traditional southern Taiwanese breakfasts, and a journey on the Alishan Forest Railway amidst tea plantations.
"Riding the Alishan Forest Railway was so picturesque; every spot was perfect for a photo. It felt almost a shame to just capture it with my eyes," Kyuhyun commented on his experience.
Taiwan Tourism plans to roll out various promotions in Korea this year, following recent events in Busan and Daegu. A pop-up store combining traditional Taiwanese tea culture with modern aesthetics, titled 'O-Syong's Tea House,' is scheduled to open in Seoul's Seongsu-dong next month. They also aim to attract Korean tourists through events like a beef noodle cooking class and marine tourism promotions.
Kyuhyun, a main vocalist of the K-pop group Super Junior, is celebrated for his sweet and emotive singing voice. He has also achieved significant success as a solo artist with hit songs like 'At Gwanghwamun' and 'A Million Pieces.' Furthermore, his talent has been recognized in the musical theater scene, where he has starred in numerous productions, solidifying his status as a versatile entertainer.
