Jeon Yu-seong, a towering figure in Korean comedy, has passed away at the age of 76.

The beloved comedian died on the evening of October 25th at Jeonbuk National University Hospital. The Korea Comedians Association announced that his funeral will be held under the association's auspices, expressing deep sorrow over his departure.

Jeon had been battling pneumothorax following a procedure in July. His condition had reportedly become critical in recent days, and it is understood that he left behind final words.

Born in 1949, Jeon Yu-seong was instrumental in laying the foundation for Korean comedy, actively participating in both television broadcasts and live performances. He served as the honorary chairman of the Busan International Comedy Festival and nurtured many junior comedians, including Jo Se-ho and Kim Shin-young, during his time at Yewon Arts University. He also established the 'Comedy Cheol-gagbang Theater' in Namwon, fostering local performances and festivals.

He was cherished for his unique wit and philosophical insights. Last year, in an appearance on the YouTube show 'Kkondaehee,' he shared the memorable advice, "Don't cry hiding in secret," delivering both laughter and poignant reflection.

Jeon Yu-seong began his career in the late 1970s, creating numerous hit comedy segments and characters. His distinctive humor and acting style significantly influenced many junior comedians. Beyond just making people laugh, he delivered messages imbued with warm humanity and life philosophy, leaving a deep resonance with the public.
