Comedienne Lee Gyeong-sil Shares Last Moments with Late Comedian Jeon Yu-seong: 'Breathing Felt Like a 100m Dash'

Comedienne Lee Gyeong-sil has paid tribute to her late colleague, comedian Jeon Yu-seong, who passed away on the 25th due to worsening pleurisy. She shared their final conversation, expressing her deep sorrow.

In a social media post, Lee Gyeong-sil revealed she rushed to Jeonbuk National University Hospital immediately after finishing a Wednesday recording session, feeling it was urgent to see him. Upon arrival, she found him in a patient gown, enduring a fever and using a respirator.

She recounted a lighthearted exchange where she playfully remarked, "Haha.. Our older brother looks so sexy lying there?" To which he responded, "I'm doing this so you all can see me." Lee Gyeong-sil described their brief yet profound conversation, noting his effort to convey as much as possible. She tearfully wiped his hands with a wet cloth, trying to hide her emotions, and expressed her sadness at his struggle to breathe.

Receiving a message about his passing at 9:05 PM the previous night, she reflected, "Ah~ Our older brother must not be suffering anymore. The doctor said his labored breathing was like running a continuous 100-meter dash." Lee praised his life as "wonderful and grand" and wished him peace, saying, "Please don't be in pain anymore and rest comfortably."

Lee concluded by cherishing their time together as "always happy, joyful, and grateful," adding, "I will always miss you. Goodbye, older brother. Rest well."

Jeon Yu-seong, 76, passed away at Jeonbuk National University Hospital. His wake is being held at Asan Medical Center in Seoul.

Lee Gyeong-sil debuted in the 1980s and gained widespread popularity through numerous hit comedy shows. Her unique wit and charm defined an era, and she significantly influenced the comedy scene, including mentoring younger comedians.
