The Mnet survival show ‘BOYS II PLANET’ has successfully wrapped up its season, setting new records for viewership and buzz.

The grand finale, broadcast on the 25th, revealed the eight final members who will form the group named ‘ALPHA DRIVE ONE’. The members selected are Lee Sang-won, Jo Woo-an-shin, Heo Shin-long, Kim Geon-woo, Jang Jia-hao, Lee Rio, Jeong Sang-hyun, and Kim Jun-seo.

The final global vote to determine the debut lineup garnered participation from 223 countries and regions, with a total of 26,569,300 votes counted. Notably, the first round of voting alone accumulated 23,032,255 votes within a week, approximately three times more than the previous season.

‘BOYS II PLANET’ pushed the boundaries of K-pop survival shows by featuring an unprecedented 160 contestants and building an expansive ‘Planet Universe’ narrative. Over three months, the participants forged bonds and showcased impressive growth, creating a moving story of friendship and camaraderie, further enhanced by the sincere support from the masters and planet masters.

The program consistently ranked first in its time slot across all channels, including terrestrial broadcasters. It maintained the top spot for TVING real-time UV, saw continuous growth in Mnet Plus viewership, and secured high rankings on global OTT platforms across Asia, Europe, and South America, including Japan’s ABEMA and China’s iQIYI International.

‘BOYS II PLANET’ secured the number one spot for buzz in the TV-OTT non-drama category for nine consecutive weeks according to Good Data Corporation’s FUNdex. Its global impact was further recognized through reports in major international media outlets like Forbes, and its official social media followers surpassed 2.2 million. Total cumulative digital views across platforms like YouTube and TikTok are nearing 900 million.

The newly formed group ‘ALPHA DRIVE ONE’ is set to showcase the new potential and power of K-pop on the global stage for the next five years. The eyes of global K-pop fans are now fixed on the story these eight boys, united after a fierce competition, will begin to write.
