Chef Lee Yeon-bok Mourns Late Comedian Jeon Yu-seong: "Unforgettable Last Meal with Him on Life Support"

Celebrated Chinese cuisine chef Lee Yeon-bok has expressed his deep sorrow and fond memories of his close friend, the late comedian Jeon Yu-seong. On the 26th, Lee posted several photos with Jeon on his personal social media account, accompanied by a heartfelt tribute.

The shared pictures depict the two enjoying travel and meals together, showcasing their long-standing friendship. "Jeon Yu-seong, hyungnim, who always shared joyful times with me," Lee wrote, recalling, "He would visit every year, we'd eat delicious food, and he'd ceaselessly tell us funny stories."

He particularly touched upon the poignant final moments with the deceased, stating, "I will never forget our last meal together while he was on a respirator. I will forever remember your spirit, hyungnim, still cracking jokes even then," adding to the sense of loss.

Lee concluded his message with a heartfelt farewell, saying, "Hyungnim, rest in peace, and please tell many funny stories again in heaven. I love you."

Meanwhile, Jeon Yu-seong, a giant of the Korean comedy scene, passed away at the age of 76 on the 25th after a battle with pneumothorax. He had undergone surgery for pleurisy in July, but his health rapidly declined, leading to his hospitalization and subsequent death at Chonbuk National University Hospital. The memorial service for the late comedian, who elevated the status of entertainers by coining the term 'gagman' (comedian), was held at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, with the funeral conducted in the style of a comedians' funeral. The procession on the 28th will include a visit to the KBS New Building and the 'Gag Concert' recording studio as a final farewell.
