
Comedian Kim Young-chul Tears Up on Air Mourning Veteran Gagman Jeon Yu-seong
Comedian Kim Young-chul became emotional during a live broadcast after hearing the news of the passing of his senior colleague, the late Jeon Yu-seong.
On the SBS Power FM radio show 'Kim Young-chul's Power FM' on October 26th, DJ Kim Young-chul struggled to hold back tears as he announced the unfortunate news. He began, "He was an eternal senior to us..." and was visibly choked up multiple times, deeply touching his listeners.
Following the broadcast, Kim Young-chul shared a heartfelt message for the late comedian on his social media. He recalled a recent YouTube filming session where he had the opportunity to meet Jeon Yu-seong again, expressing gratitude for the senior's willingness to participate. He remembered how Jeon Yu-seong seemed unable to eat much during their meal, a vivid memory that stayed with him.
Kim Young-chul also reminisced about his early days as a rookie comedian. He shared a poignant memory from a 'Gag Concert' training session in 1999, where Jeon Yu-seong bought him three books, advising him, "You must read a lot." This advice became a lifelong guiding principle for Kim Young-chul, though he expressed regret for not contacting his senior more often.
"I hope you are no longer in pain and can read and write all you want, just as you loved," Kim Young-chul wrote in his final message. "I will continue to live by your words, reading and studying. Rest in peace, senior," he concluded, sending his final farewell.
Jeon Yu-seong passed away on October 25th at 9:05 PM at Jeonbuk National University Hospital at the age of 76 due to worsening pneumothorax.
