
Comedian Jo Se-ho Mourns Mentor Jeon Yu-seong: "I Was So Happy and Grateful"
Comedian Jo Se-ho has expressed his deep sorrow and longing for his mentor, the late Jeon Yu-seong.
On the 26th, Jo Se-ho shared several photos with Jeon Yu-seong on his social media, conveying his heartfelt feelings for the deceased by saying, "I was so, so happy and grateful to be your junior, to be your student."
He reminisced about his memories with Jeon Yu-seong, recalling the advice his mentor left behind. Jo Se-ho shared, "I especially miss the days when Professor would call and say, 'Se-ho, where are you? Sing a song for me.'" He added, "When I was contemplating my work more than anyone else, the words, 'It's one of two: either do it or don't do it... Just do it,' keep echoing in my mind," revealing his choked-up emotions.
Furthermore, Jo Se-ho said, "The voice that said, 'Take care...' the last time I heard from you is still clear in my ears," and paid tribute to his mentor, "Please rest in peace in a peaceful place, Professor."
Jo Se-ho and Jeon Yu-seong's unique bond began at the University of the Arts. They formed a teacher-student relationship in the Department of Comedy Acting, where Jeon Yu-seong served as the department head, and became important figures in each other's lives. Jeon Yu-seong was known as a 'mentor of comedy' and dedicated himself to nurturing numerous juniors. Their special connection garnered attention again last October when Jeon Yu-seong personally officiated Jo Se-ho's wedding.
Meanwhile, Jeon Yu-seong, often called 'Korea's No. 1 Comedian,' passed away on the 25th at the age of 76 after battling pleuropneumothorax. He had surgery for pneumothorax in July, but his condition recently worsened, leading to his passing. His wake is being held at Asan Medical Center in Seoul, and he will be honored with a comedian's funeral ceremony, with the procession scheduled for the 28th.
Jo Se-ho, born in 1988, debuted as a KBS comedian in 2007. He is widely loved for his witty remarks and cheerful hosting on various entertainment shows. Recently, he has been actively engaging with fans through his YouTube channel, maintaining his popularity.
