Famous Girl Group Member's Father Accused of Unpaid Debt for 3 Years; Victim Exposes 'Frustration'
Allegations have surfaced that the father of a famous girl group member has been failing to repay borrowed money for three years, sparking widespread debate.
A post titled "A Girl Group Singer's Dad Has Been Borrowing Money for 3 Years Without Repaying" was uploaded to an anonymous online community on the 1st.
The author, identified as 'A', stated, "I've known this person for nearly 10 years. We met through a sports club, and he introduced himself as the father of a certain singer. We became close over drinks."
'A' explained that B (the father) claimed to be opening a store in Uijeongbu just before the COVID-19 pandemic and borrowed 1 million won, stating financial difficulties. Later, he borrowed another 1 million won for store maintenance and an additional 2 million won citing his daughter's wedding. Furthermore, 'A' introduced B to a job, helping him earn 5 million won in just 10 days, and later lent him 3 million won for construction materials, with a promise of repayment upon project completion.
However, B failed to repay the loans as promised. He made some interest payments but eventually stopped. When 'A' contacted B's wife, she reportedly showed indifference. B later sent 1 million won and promised to repay 3 million won installments monthly from July to September, but after the July payment, he again defaulted.
Feeling "more frustrated than worried about the money," 'A' decided to post their story online after informing B. 'A' stated they plan to post weekly updates until the debt is repaid.
Netizens reacted by advising 'A' to file a lawsuit without wasting time. When asked if the singer's father status influenced the loan, 'A' clarified, "No, the amount wasn't significant, and we were close friends. All I got back was disappointment and betrayal."
However, some argued that involving the daughter, a female idol singer, by mentioning her father's situation is inappropriate, as she was not directly involved in the loans. Comments like "What did the daughter do wrong?" and "Why is the daughter being dragged into this?" were raised. Conversely, others defended 'A's actions, suggesting that leveraging the daughter's fame might be a necessary step for publicizing the issue from the victim's perspective.
Korean netizens advised the victim to file a lawsuit immediately, with some questioning if the loan was given because of the father's connection to a celebrity. Others expressed sympathy for the daughter, stating, "The daughter is innocent," and "Why is the daughter being dragged into this?"
