Kim Nam-joo Recalls Aspiring Model Days: 'I Styled My Hair Myself with a Curling Iron Picked by Namdaemun Market Merchants'

Actress Kim Nam-joo reminisced about her days as a rising model.

On the SBS Life show 'Queen of Style Kim Nam-joo,' aired on the 2nd, Kim Nam-joo visited Namdaemun Market.

Bringing out a gas-powered curling iron, Kim Nam-joo shared, "I couldn't throw this away because I wanted to remember my younger self." She recalled, "I was an unknown model then, favored by the merchants of Namdaemun. I styled my own hair with this curling iron for shoots." The staff, unfamiliar with the device, were surprised.

Kim Nam-joo added, "It was about 30 years ago, when I was 21 or 22. Coming back to Namdaemun after so long brings back memories. My photos used to be displayed in clothing stores, and my mom would proudly tell people, 'Our Nam-joo is right here.'"
