
First-Generation YouTuber Daedoseogwan Passes Away Suddenly at 46; Preliminary Autopsy Rules Out Foul Play
The Korean internet community is mourning the sudden passing of Daedoseogwan (real name: Na Dong-hyun), a pioneering YouTuber, who was found deceased at his home in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, on the morning of May 6th. He was 46 years old. The discovery was made after he failed to meet with acquaintances and could not be reached, prompting authorities to investigate.
Daedoseogwan had reportedly experienced heart-related pain in the past, leading to speculation about pre-existing conditions. In response, a post-mortem examination was conducted by the National Forensic Service (NFS) to determine the exact cause of death. On May 8th, the NFS provided a preliminary verbal opinion stating, "There are no signs of foul play such as homicide." Police are awaiting the final autopsy report, considering the possibility of death due to illness.
The funeral procession took place on the morning of May 9th at the Konkuk University Hospital. His wife, fellow creator Yum-Deng (real name: Lee Chae-won), along with family and friends, bid their final farewells. Daedoseogwan, who garnered 1.44 million subscribers, was a prominent figure in game streaming and diverse YouTube content, celebrated for his role in laying the foundation for the Korean creator industry.
Daedoseogwan began his YouTube journey in 2011, quickly becoming a trailblazer in South Korea's burgeoning online broadcasting scene. His content transcended simple game streams, characterized by active viewer engagement and innovative programming that garnered immense popularity. He also expanded the horizons of online content through collaborations with various YouTubers, inspiring many junior creators.
