
Lee Byung-hun Becomes First Korean Actor to Receive TIFF 'Special Tribute Award'
Renowned actor Lee Byung-hun has made history as the first Korean actor to be honored with the 'Special Tribute Award' at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The prestigious award was presented at the 'Tribute Awards' gala, held as part of TIFF's 50th-anniversary celebrations. Expressing his gratitude via social media, Lee conveyed, "I sincerely congratulate TIFF on its 50th anniversary, and I am incredibly proud to be a part of this festival."
Reflecting on his career, he shared, "Since my debut 35 years ago, I have always cherished my love for cinema." He recalled achieving his dream of becoming a box-office success after starring in Park Chan-wook's 'Joint Security Area' in 2000. Lee also expressed anticipation for the film 'The Inheritors,' a project born from his collaboration with director Park Chan-wook, stating his belief that "this film will be one that audiences must see."

He has also achieved international recognition through his roles in Hollywood blockbusters such as the 'G.I. Joe' series, 'Terminator Genisys,' and 'The Magnificent Seven.'
