Yoon Jung-soo's Fiancée Joins 'Lovers of Joseon', Reveals Painful Past of Quitting Showbiz

Won Jin-seo (formerly Won Ja-hyun), the fiancée of broadcaster Yoon Jung-soo, has shared the reasons behind her abrupt departure from the broadcasting industry.

On the April 8th episode of TV Chosun's 'Lovers of Joseon,' Won Jin-seo appeared before the cameras for the first time in a while to open up about her past struggles. Prior to filming, Yoon Jung-soo expressed his concerns, stating, "Ten years ago, when my fiancée was active in broadcasting, she suffered greatly from malicious comments. She was deeply hurt back then, so I'm even more worried now that we are together."

Appearing nervous, Won Jin-seo greeted Yoon Jung-soo, admitting, "It feels so awkward." Yoon Jung-soo explained that he hadn't been hiding his future wife but wanted to introduce her when he felt more at ease, and that now was the right time. He also revealed that while her birth name is Won Jin-seo, she used the name Won Ja-hyun during her previous broadcasting career and has been working as a Pilates instructor for nine years.

Won Jin-seo gained attention as the 'Guangzhou Goddess' during the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games but ceased broadcasting activities after 2019. She recalled her painful past, stating, "After Guangzhou, I worked as a reporter for current affairs programs and as an in-house announcer, but I got caught up in sensational articles and exposure controversies, leading to a flood of malicious comments. I even suffered from depression during that time."

Explaining her decision to leave the entertainment world, she confessed, "That situation was too difficult. I couldn't bear it any longer, so I quit broadcasting." She added that Yoon Jung-soo's encouragement motivated her to appear on the show again.

Furthermore, Won Jin-seo spoke about her connection with Yoon Jung-soo. "After retiring, I was going through a tough time and barely watched the internet or TV. I happened to hear his radio show on my way to work, and it was so funny. That's when I found my vitality again. His voice was a great comfort and made me smile," she said. Yoon Jung-soo's radio show became a 'lifeline' that helped her endure difficult times, and they reconnected after 11 years.

Won Jin-seo eventually shared with tears in her eyes, "I was able to find joy in life again through the radio. The comfort and strength he gave me seem to have led to our marriage." Yoon Jung-soo also held her hand tightly, expressing his reassurance, "It's comforting to be together."

Won Jin-seo gained significant popularity as the 'Guangzhou Goddess' during the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. She previously worked under the name Won Ja-hyun before ceasing broadcasting activities. She has revealed that she suffered from depression due to malicious comments during her career.
