Ahead of its premiere, actor Han Suk-kyu shared the social message and heartfelt convictions embedded in the upcoming tvN drama 'Mr. Shin's Project'.

'Mr. Shin's Project' is a conflict resolution hero drama about 'Mr. Shin', a former legendary negotiator now running a chicken restaurant, who resolves cases and upholds justice by navigating both unconventional and lawful means.

Director Shin Kyeong-soo explained the drama's intention at the press conference, stating, 'The first page of the script had a phrase that read, "A drama needed for us living in an era of communication breakdown, an era of regret."' He added that they wanted to offer warm comfort to viewers through dialogue and understanding.

Director Shin recalled moments that highlighted the need for 'Mr. Shin'. He shared an anecdote about his wife crying after a parking dispute, where he realized 'Mr. Shin' would have handled it differently, emphasizing dialogue and compromise. He also thought of the drama during clashes between farmers and police, wishing 'Mr. Shin' could have mediated with food.

Han Suk-kyu, taking on the lead role, expressed his sorrow over societal realities. He found the stark division between '갑' (superior) and '을' (inferior) and the strong sense of dominance and subjugation uncomfortable. He referenced the recent tragedy involving a franchise owner and headquarters, where a franchisee was killed.

Han Suk-kyu suggested that extreme, heartbreaking events often stem from emotion rather than reason. He reflected on his profession as an actor, working with emotions, and stressed the importance of controlling and sharing these feelings. He hopes the drama prompts viewers to reflect on their own emotions and the state of communication in society.

Han Suk-kyu, a veteran actor, began his career in theater in 1984 before transitioning to film and television. He is renowned for his versatile roles and captivating performances in critically acclaimed projects such as 'Shiri', 'Deep Rooted Tree', and the 'Dr. Romantic' series. His commitment to choosing meaningful roles and his profound character portrayals have cemented his status as a beloved figure in Korean entertainment.
