Oh Jeong-tae's Daughter Feels Pressure from High Expectations at Science High School

Comedian Oh Jeong-tae's daughter revealed the burden of pressure she feels due to high expectations while attending a science high school.

On the SBS show 'Same Bed, Different Dreams Season 2 - You Are My Destiny,' broadcast on the 8th, the recent situation of the Oh Jeong-tae family was unveiled.

The Oh Jeong-tae couple, whose eldest daughter attends a science high school, shared, "We find ourselves comparing to other parents. What she definitely resembles is diligence. She is persistent, works hard, and does her best. (Oh Jeong-tae) tried his best without giving up even during his 8 years of obscurity and succeeded."

His wife, in particular, mentioned that because she doesn't know much about academics, she frequently visits her daughter's dormitory to clean and care for her, trying to help in that way. Oh Jeong-tae's wife even cleans the shared bathrooms in the dormitory.

"Children grow up healthy in usually harmonious families," said Oh Jeong-tae's wife, Baek A-young. Oh Jeong-tae agreed, "We always sit the children down and show them, my wife and I. If we do it naturally, the kids don't know. We show them that we love them, Mom and Dad."

Meanwhile, Baek A-young prepared a special lunchbox for her daughter, including abalone and turmeric rice, grilled eel, yukjeon (beef pancakes), and dubu jeon (tofu pancakes), as she wanted her daughter to eat nutritiously even if it was just one meal, given her picky eating habits. Oh Jeong-tae also helped with the cooking, showing a significantly changed demeanor.

Oh Jeong-tae explained that his wife prepares the special lunchbox out of a desire for their daughter to eat nutritiously, as she has a short appetite. His daughter resolved to solve her lack of sleep and meals all in the car. Afterward, she started studying in the car and revealed her goal of early graduation.

The Oh Jeong-tae family went to meet an expert on college admissions. His wife supports them wholeheartedly, but the daughter confessed for the first time, "Mom's expectations are so high, it's burdensome."

Oh Jeong-tae, born in 1970, gained recognition through comedy programs in the early 2000s. He married Baek A-young, who is the same age as him, in 2015, and they have two daughters. Notably, Oh Jeong-tae emphasized diligence and effort to his daughters, drawing from his own experience of success after 8 years of obscurity, and is actively involved in their education.
