JTBC's new weekend drama 'Hundred Year Memory' unveiled its charms at a press conference held on the 11th, ahead of its premiere on the 13th. The series transports viewers to the 1980s, chronicling the vibrant friendship between Go Young-rye (played by Kim Da-mi), a bus conductor on Route 100, and Seo Jong-hee (played by Shin Ye-eun), alongside their tender first love surrounding Han Jae-pil (played by Heo Nam-joon).

Helmed by director Kim Sang-ho, known for 'Thirty-Nine,' and penned by writer Yang Hee-seung, celebrated for 'A Week of a Married Couple' and 'Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo,' the drama boasts a promising creative team. Director Kim emphasized the meticulous efforts in historical accuracy, from sourcing a functional bus from the era to the detailed work of the art, props, costume, and makeup departments. His vision was to focus not just on the historical setting but on the lived experiences and emotions of the people who inhabited it.

The lead cast shared their immersion into the 1980s. Kim Da-mi spoke of connecting with the romantic and innocent sentiments of bus conductors of the time, while Shin Ye-eun expressed fascination with the streetscapes and props that defined the era. Heo Nam-joon recalled seeing familiar items from his grandparents' home, finding the presence of a conductor and ticket collection system on the bus particularly striking.

Director Kim explained the choice of the 1980s as a backdrop, highlighting 'youth' as a central theme. He aimed to capture the purity and freshness of an era where communication relied on letters rather than instant messages. Despite the actors not having lived through the 80s, the director stressed the importance of conveying universal human emotions authentically.

Kim Da-mi returns to JTBC after five years since 'Itaewon Class,' taking on the role of the exemplary bus conductor Go Young-rye. Shin Ye-eun, following her impactful role in 'The Glory,' portrays the charismatic and bold Seo Jong-hee, promising a different allure. Heo Nam-joon will embody Han Jae-pil, the pivotal figure in the young women's first love, delivering a nuanced emotional performance.

The actors praised each other's chemistry. Kim Da-mi commended Shin Ye-eun's passion for acting, while Shin Ye-eun was impressed by Kim Da-mi's sincere and profound performances. Heo Nam-joon highlighted Shin Ye-eun's wit and warmth, and expressed admiration for Kim Da-mi's intelligence and collaborative spirit.

Director Kim pointed to the budding romances and the growth of young characters as key viewing points. Kim Da-mi anticipates the vivid portrayal of all characters, Shin Ye-eun hopes for viewers to experience the unique scent and healing of the past era, and Heo Nam-joon suggests enjoying the charming props and nostalgic scenery. 'Hundred Year Memory' is set to premiere on the 13th at 10:30 PM.

Kim Da-mi debuted in the 2018 film 'Hidden Figure,' gaining significant attention for her unique acting in dramas like 'Itaewon Class,' 'My Mister,' and films such as 'The Witch' and 'Soulmate.' Her portrayal of a character with vibrant blonde hair in the 2020 JTBC drama 'Itaewon Class' earned her widespread popularity. She is currently carefully considering her next projects to further expand her acting spectrum.
