Son Ye-jin Reflects on Her 'Icon of Purity' Image

Actress Son Ye-jin has candidly shared her thoughts on being dubbed the 'icon of purity.'

In a recent upload on the YouTube channel 'Yojung Jaeyong' on the 21st, Son Ye-jin appeared as a guest, charming viewers with her wit. Host Jung Jae-hyung reminisced about her early works, praising her radiant visuals and natural acting during her debut years.

Reflecting on this, Son Ye-jin commented, "Looking back, many of the projects I filmed in my early twenties are still talked about today. However, I never expected those works to receive such positive public reception or be remembered as embodying a 'first love' image."

Jung Jae-hyung then brought up the iconic 'Pocari Sweat' commercial, asking, "Didn't the image of being the 'icon of purity' have a stronger impact than your acting roles?" Son Ye-jin replied, "I suppose because the advertisement was impactful and widely broadcast, many people remember it that way."

She further explained, "During the commercial shoots, I simply ran when asked to run or rode a bike when asked to ride one. I never considered how the public would perceive it. I was just focused on showcasing my youth and radiance, not intentionally crafting a 'pure' image," she added.

Son Ye-jin debuted in 2001 with the MBC sitcom 'Sun Hee Jin Hee' and quickly rose to stardom with her exceptional acting skills and unique visuals. She solidified her position as a 'romance queen' through numerous hit works such as 'The Classic,' 'A Moment to Remember,' 'Alone in Love,' 'Personal Taste,' and 'Crash Landing on You.' She married actor Hyun Bin in March 2022 and they have one son.
