Singer Jeong Dong-won is facing controversy after allegations surfaced that he drove a vehicle without a license during his teenage years.

According to reports on the 11th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office is currently investigating Jeong Dong-won for violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license).

It is understood that Jeong Dong-won operated a vehicle in a provincial city last year without a valid license, at which time he was 16 years old and legally unable to obtain a driver's license. The case, which was under police investigation until early this year, has since been transferred to the prosecution.

Under the Road Traffic Act, individuals must be at least 18 years old to acquire a driver's license. Driving without a license can result in a prison sentence of up to 10 months or a fine of up to 3 million Korean won.

This incident follows a previous legal issue where Jeong Dong-won received a suspended sentence (gi-so-yuye) in March of last year for riding a motorcycle on a road where it was prohibited.

Born in 2007, Jeong Dong-won is a South Korean trot singer.

He gained national recognition after appearing on TV Chosun's 'Tomorrow is Mr. Trot' in 2018.

He has since maintained his popularity through consistent broadcasting activities and music releases.
