Seo Dong-ju Reveals Reason for Becoming a Lawyer: 'To Make a Living'

Broadcaster Seo Dong-ju candidly shared the story behind her decision to become a lawyer in the United States.

Appearing as a special MC on KBS2's 'The Boss's Ears Are Donkey's Ears' on the 14th, Seo discussed her experience working at one of America's top five law firms. She revealed that she worked there for five years and continued to work remotely even after returning to Korea.

When asked by Jun Hyun-moo about the biggest difference between practicing law in the US and Korea, Seo replied, "You call people by their names. You can even call the CEO by their first name." Kim Hee-jun firmly stated that such behavior would be reprimanded in Korea.

Regarding her motivation for pursuing law, Seo honestly confessed, "It wasn't for a grand dream, but rather to make a living." She added, "I wanted to earn money stably." Kim Sook expressed admiration for her frankness.

Seo also shared her experience passing the bar exam, stating, "I failed once and passed the second time in six months." She explained that studying for both state and federal laws in the US can be challenging due to the broad scope of knowledge required.

When Park Myung-soo inquired about her popularity as a lawyer in the US, she recalled, "I was a bit popular in college. At that time, I was even called the 'Asian Paris Hilton,'" drawing attention.

Seo Dong-ju is actively engaged in broadcasting and also works as a businesswoman. She is highly admired for her excellent English proficiency and witty remarks. Her experience as a lawyer in the US has significantly shaped her career path.
